Kelly Walen is the most terrific real estate agent I've ever worked with, and I have bought and sold a number of houses in my time. I my most recent real estate adventure, Kelly helped me to buy the exact house that I wanted to get. Not only that, but the seller was very difficult to deal with, but Kelly patiently led me through negotiations with this person. She was always there when I needed her. She always got back to me quickly whenever I called her. She went way out of her way to help me assure that my deal was a good one and to get through the paperwork, which at the time, was recently changed due to the new house purchasing rules coming out of the housing bubble collapse. Kelly knew what she was doing and was by my side the whole way. What a great real estate agent! I have already recommended her to people and she has helped them too. I can not say too much about how great she is.

Depoimento: I first met Shane a few years ago through many mutual friends in the surfing community here on the Outer Banks. When I started looking into buying my first home this past summer I spent many hours on Zillow educating myself and driving around looking at properties I liked, but at the time I was unaware of a dollar amount that I may have been qualified for in the way of a loan. For that reason I was hesitant to contact any realtor agents and potentially waste their time. My first step was visiting two local banks followed by two low quotes for a home loan in return, then discouragement. A few days later I ran into Shane and explained my dilemma to him and instantly his local knowledge kicked in. He immediately referred me to a mortgage broker friend of his, and then a few days later I had a substantially higher "ballpark" loan quote that enabled us to zero in on a few nice listings in the Kill Devil Hills area that I desired. The fact that Shane grew up in Kitty Hawk (myself, a transplant) reflected highly, and his honesty in pointing out the positive and negative aspects of the homes I liked assured me that he was always looking out for my best interest. It doesn't take more than a few minutes of talking with Shane to realize that his calm and straight to the point demeanor are the characteristics of someone who never sugar coats anything. There was one house in particular, that had only been on the market a week or two, and the instant I drove by it I knew it was the one. Shane was able to show it to me on a Sunday and after our thorough walk through he confirmed it was truly a find. Shane's input on my offer was crucial and he submitted it to the owner on Monday. It was accepted on Tuesday and I was officially under contract to buy one day later. Over the course of the next forty five days I was able to relax and focus on the loan process while Shane took care of all the rest. (inspections, survey, insurance, etc.) I have always heard that buying a house was a difficult process, a hassle or even a nightmare but I would strongly have to disagree. The day Shane met me at the house and handed me the keys was a dream come true. I still cant believe how fast it happened and that I am the owner!
